TSN Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie, Pierre LeBrun and Darren Dreger gathered for the latest installment of Insider Trading and the topics discussed were the Edmonton Oilers search for a defenceman, the Toronto Maple Leafs listening to offers for Jake Gardiner, the leagues Europe plans, and Martin Brodeur and Cory Schneider in New Jersey. Alex McGough Jersey . How aggressively are the Edmonton Oilers looking for a defenceman? Bob McKenzie: Let me say this - theres no panic button being pushed in Edmonton by general manager Craig MacTavish but I would also suggest that after three games and 15 goals against, MacTavish is more open to business than most GMs would be after the first week of the season. The defence has been very questionable and theyve had some questionable goaltending. Theyre not going to judge Devan Dubnyk on a couple of games where he wasnt nearly as good as he needs to be but there is concern in Edmonton that their overall play behind the blueline and in net isnt where it needs to be. Remember, MacTavish said when he took the job that he wanted to be bold. He hasnt had that opportunity to make that bold move, but I think hes still lying out there in the weeds trying to find something that would be considered bold and that would make a dramatic difference to the way this team plays behind the blue line.     Are the Toronto Maple Leafs open for business on trading Jake Gardiner or are they just taking calls on him? Darren Dreger: A little of both. Theyre interested in offers but theyre certainly not shopping Gardiner. This discussion stems back to the Cody Franson stalemate. Im told about a month ago, four or five teams called asking about a defenceman. They were asking about Franson and then the conversation shifted to Gardiner. Dave Nonis told all those teams, “I am not trying to move a defenceman. If you have an interest in Franson or Gardiner, make an offer, but also know that its going to take an elite forward for me to even consider.” And so far, there have been no serious offers for Gardiner. Is the NHL going to back to Europe to start the season next year? Pierre LeBrun: That is the plan. The NHL and NHLPA will hold a meeting next week to talk about their European plan which includes the return of the Premiere games and also plans for the World Cup of Hockey which should return in the fall of 2015. The Premiere games havent been held since October of 2011 and the five years when it was held, it was always at the start of the season. You played a pre-season game and then a couple of regular season games. The leading option right now, I believe, is to play late in October so its one month into the season. That would avoid teams playing there in the pre-season and right now theyre looking at either four teams or two teams going over there. What becomes of Peter Laviolette and how much heat is there now on Paul Holmgren? Dreger: For the moment, Laviolette and his family are trying to stay below the radar. Obviously, hes not happy with the way things ended with the Philadelphia Flyers so he may lay low. He wants to coach again in the NHL and given his resume, its believed that hell get another opportunity. If things dont materialize in the NHL, say, before Christmas, Im told Laviolette would consider going over to Europe and coaching there. Its not too far-fetched that he and his family would consider that. As for Holmgren, he was looking for Ron Hextall. Since Holmgren took over as GM of the Flyers he has been constantly trying to lure Hextall from the Los Angeles Kings. Theres no imminent danger for Holmgren and the belief is he will go out on his own terms and Hextall ultimately would be his successor. George McPhee has made a lot of good moves for the Washington Capitals but the Martin Erat trade is not looking particularly strong. McKenzie: This is a simmering story that could boil over in the not-too-distant future. The Capitals gave up a top prospect in Filip Forsberg at the trade deadline last year for Erat and Michael Latta. Latta was sent down at the beginning of the season and brought back up now. But Erat has been an afterthought for head coach Adam Oates. He cant get into the lineup in any appreciable way. Going into Tuesday, he was playing six to nine minutes in each game on a fourth line and playing behind guys like Marcus Johansson, Brooks Laich, and Jason Chimera. If they dont get this guy into the lineup soon, I would imagine its coming to a head. Could Brodeur-Schneider become a big and awkward story as the season goes along? LeBrun: Its a good thing for New Jersey Devils head coach Pete DeBoer. Yes, its a delicate situation; you have the all-time winningest goalie in Martin Brodeur being pushed by an up-and-coming star goalie in Cory Schneider. How do you handle it? First of all, the Devils have 22 sets of back-to-back games - that leads the entire NHL. Split those games and that takes care of that headache for at least a quarter of the year. Justin Britt Jersey . Patrick Deslisle-Houde and David Rose each scored in the second to give the fourth-seeded Redmen a 3-1 lead after Jean-Philippe Mathieu scored in the first. Seattle Seahawks Jerseys . -- At the beginning of training camp, Andrew Bogut set a goal to play all 82 regular-season games and regain his place among the NBAs best centres. http://www.officialseattleseahawksfootball.com/authentic-dontae-johnson-jersey-womens .com) - The Kansas City Chiefs activated linebacker Joe Mays from short-term injured reserve on Saturday.MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Grizzlies jumped out to an early lead and didnt let the Minnesota Timberwolves gain any confidence the rest of the way. Mike Conley had 23 points and six assists, Marc Gasol added 14 points and 12 rebounds and the Grizzlies easily dispatched the short-handed Timberwolves 109-92 on Monday night. "We caught a good team on the second night of a back-to-back," Memphis coach Dave Joerger said. Memphis goal was to take immediate advantage of a Minnesota team coming off a 127-120 loss to Phoenix on Sunday in which the Timberwolves squandered a 22-point lead. Memphis never trailed and held a double-digit lead from the 3:27 mark of the first quarter to the end. "We didnt want to give them too much leeway," Conley said. "Weve been in the same shoes. Youre coming in off a tough game, and you kind of walk through the first part of the game. "We just wanted to jump out there as early as we could, set the tempo and try to get ahead of them." Zach Randolph finished with 17 points for Memphis, while Tayshaun Prince and Ed Davis added 12 points apiece. Mike Miller scored 11 as the Grizzlies won their 10th straight home game. Kevin Love led the Timberwolves with 16 points, but shot 6-of-18 from the field, part of Minnesota shooting 38 per cent for the game. Corey Brewer had 15 points and Kevin Martin finished with 13. Gorgui Dieng, in the starting lineup because of injuries on Minnesotas front line, finished with 11 points and 17 rebounds. The victory left Memphis in the seventh spot in the Western Conference playoff race, a half-game ahead of Dallas and Phoenix. Meanwhile, the consecutive losses to the Grizzlies and Suns pushed the Timberwolves seven games behind Phoenix and the Mavericks. While not mathematically eliminated, the Timberwolves are beginning to understand their situation. "We just have to be competitive. Thats the biggest key right now — get through the end of the season and play each game competitively," forward Chase Budinger said. "Thats how yoou have to look at it. Richard Sherman Jersey. " The Timberwolves continued to deal with injuries as centres Nikola Pekovic and Ronny Turiaf sat out, along with backup point guard J.J. Barea. With the absences, Memphis dominated the inside and outscored Minnesota in the paint 66-42 and held a 54-42 advantage on the boards. "They played physical," Love said. "When you play a team like that on a back-to-back, especially this late in the season, especially without Pek and Ronny and some depth, its tough." The first quarter was a horrid shooting exhibition. The teams combined to miss the games first nine shots, and Memphis shot only 44.4 per cent in the quarter. Minnesota started 3-of-16 before rallying to 5-of-24 (20.8 per cent for the quarter). "We just got off to such a bad start and missed a ton of shots," Minnesota coach Rick Adelman said. "We allowed them 40 points in the paint in the first half. They controlled the game pretty much the whole game." Memphis pushed the first-half lead to as many as 21 before Minnesota got going midway through the second period. But the Grizzlies held a 57-39 lead at the break. Memphis extended the lead to 24 in the third quarter and appeared to be in control. But Minnesota closed the period on a 15-4 run, including the final nine to cut the advantage to 81-68 entering the fourth. Memphis opened the final period with 12 straight points, including consecutive 3-pointers from Miller and Conley, and Memphis lead was at 93-68. "We had a little miscommunication, relaxed a little bit, and they took advantage," Gasol said. "At the end of the third, we got a little sloppy, but we picked it up again and went up. The reaction is what matters." NOTES: Randolph hit a 3-pointer from the left corner in the third quarter. He was 0-for-16 from outside the arc for the season. ... Memphis has not lost at home since dropping a decision to Dallas on Feb. 5. ... The victory assured Memphis of its fourth straight winning season. ... ST. Taven Bryan Jaguars Jersey . ANDREWS -- Englands David Howell ended a seven-year winless drought with a playoff victory over American Peter Uihlein to capture the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on Sunday. The former Ryder Cup player birdied the second extra hole with a 12-foot putt to defeat Uihlein. Both players had ended regulation play on 23-under par on the Old Course with Howell shooting 5-under 67 and Uihlein 3-under 69. "To nail that birdie putt to win is pretty sweet," Howell said. "I was zero and 5 in playoffs so I felt as though I deserved one." Howell beat Tiger Woods in 2006 to win the inaugural HSBC Champions event and has played more than 200 tournaments since his last victory in the BMW Championship later that year. Englands Tom Lewis (64) and Irelands Shane Lowry (68) shared third place at 22 under. Howell began the final round two strokes behind Uihlein but then burst into contention with five birdies in his opening seven holes, including four in succession from the fourth hole. However, Howell played the last nine in par while Uihlein, competing in the event for a first occasion, also stalled in completing his inward nine in 1-under. Both players parred the first extra hole before Howell sealed a fifth European Tour victory. "Hats off to David, (he) played great, made a nice birdie," said Uihlein. "He made more putts than I did at the end of the day." Howells win moves him back into the worlds top 100 and also to 12th in the Race to Dubai, qualifying him for the European Tours end-of-season final series for the first time in his career. "Its a dream to be back in the big time as its been a long, long road from the depths of despair to get here today," Howell said. Uihlein, who was looking to become the first American to win the tournament, moved to 10th on the Race to Dubai. Frenchman Thomas Levet and amateur David Sayer won the pro-am team event with a 40-under tally. Howell was teamed with actor Hugh Grant and joked afterward: "We have been a terrible partnership in this event." The pair tied 9th on 33-under. D.J. Hayden Jersey . The group of Slava Fetisov, Igor Larionov, Vladimir Konstantinov, Sergei Fedorov, & Slava Kozlov were a dominant force for The Wings at one point in the 90s. Logan Cooke Jersey . The Jays responded to the three-spot Detroit placed on Casey Janssen the evening before with an attack on the Tigers Achilles Heel, its bullpen, tying the game in the ninth and winning the game in the 10th. The result absolved Marcus Stroman, brilliant once again, of a tough luck loss while at the same time robbing Max Scherzer, brilliant once again, of a deserved win. http://www.authenticjaguarslockroom.com/ . Behind the talents of rookie Johnny Gaudreau, the Flames will look to keep pace Thursday night when they face the Minnesota Wild in the second of a six-game homestand.LAS VEGAS - Nearly a month into his unorthodox NBA journey, with less than three games of Summer League experience on his brief resume, Bruno Caboclo sat on the Raptors bench, towel draped over his head as he wiped the tears that were building up in his eyes. Its been a week of firsts for the young Brazilian, a roller coaster of emotions that culminated in a frustrating evening. Five days ago he signed his first NBA contract, a "dream come true" as he described it. Three days ago he played in his first NBA game - scoring the first bucket for Torontos Summer League entry in Las Vegas - and on Monday he had his first real NBA learning experience, one he wont soon forget. With his team down by almost 30 points late in the third quarter, frustration already starting to boil over after committing his seventh turnover, Caboclo went up to contest highflying Mavericks rookie C.J. Fair, who would end up putting the 18-year-old on the wrong end of a poster. To make matters worse, he was assigned a technical foul for his reaction after being dunked on. Still unfamiliar with all of the leagues rules and hindered by a significant language barrier, Caboclo believed he had been ejected, heading straight to the bench where he remained for the duration of the game. "I wanted to get him back in the game," said Jesse Mermuys, Raptors assistant and Summer League head coach, following his teams lopsided 88-57 loss to Dallas. "I wanted him to get back out there but he was definitely overwhelmed at that point." For all the upside and the justifiable excitement surrounding the intriguing, albeit mysterious Brazilian here at the leagues annual summer tournament - his athleticism, competitive spirit, impressive defensive instincts and a wingspan you have to see to believe - this served as a reminder. Nothing about his learning process is easy, there are going to be bumps along the way. "Weve got to remember Bruno is 18-years-old," Mermuys cautioned. "He is a kid who does not speak English, this is his first experience. I cant tell you guys how proud I am of that kid." "Im super pleased that he was put in this position, the fight that he showed and that he showed an emotion and you could tell how much he cared and how much he felt bad that they were losing like that," Mermuys said of the Raptors 20th overall selection in last months draft. "You find out what a kids like and what a players like in those types of situations, you really find out who they are. And we have a great kid and a great competitor. And so from that standpoint today was a big success." With the exceptional, life-changing opportunity Caboclo has been offered by Masai Ujiri and the Raptors, comes the challenge - in his case, a unique challenge - that inevitably goes with it. Caboclo, the leagues youngest player, is just weeks into the extensive and trying process of learning the game, his coaches, teammates and a new language in a continent hes only visited once before. His translator and closest advisor Eduardo Resende has returned home, leaving for Brazil on Sunday after helping to ease Caboclos transition. Now, hes on his own. "The best way to learn is by being thrown into the fire," saidd a member of the Raptors front office, who has been impressed and pleasantly surprised with Caboclos quick progress. Will Richardson Jersey. Through three games in Vegas, Caboclo is averaging 11.3 points, 1.0 steal, 3.7 turnovers and 5.3 fouls, shooting 41 per cent in 25.0 minutes per contest. He has been confident and assertive, showing flashes of what he can become with some seasoning, hard work, and added muscle. On the court, communication issues have been noticeable, as you might expect. Often, his coaches will point to the spot on the floor hes expected to be, with teammates directing him and screaming out his name. Lucas "Bebe" Nogueira, his teammate and countryman, has been an asset, serving as a translator on the floor and relaying information to Caboclo in his native Portuguese. Sitting next to an emotional Caboclo on the bench, Nogueira was the first to console the Raptors forward, offering him words of encouragement and advice. "Its American basketball, its not Brazil, its not Europe," the 21-year-old Nogueira told Caboclo. "Here, everybody [can] jump. Keep playing, think about [the] next play. Dont think about the last play. If youre thinking about the last play, you are giving up. Never give up. Use that dunk on you [to] grow up. Mermuys admits he may have overextended Caboclo a bit in the second half but didnt want to take him out of the game because he was playing so hard. Although the frustrations of the moment and the high standard hes set for himself may have played a part in Caboclos emotional outburst, Nogueira offered up another interesting explanation. "In Brazil you dont have athletic players like C.J. Fair and other guys," Nogueira said. "Americans are amazing, its amazing, everyone can jump here. In Brazil, no. Nobody dunk on him there, because he is big and hes athletic. And hes 18-years-old, so its normal he is sad." By all accounts, Caboclo is a sponge both on and off the floor, eager to learn and highly motivated to get better. Hes about three weeks into his English lessons, spending 90 minutes with his tutor almost every day before games and practices. In the hopes of better communicating with his coaches and teammates, the first sentence he asked to learn was, "Where do I go?," a question he asks frequently in practice, to the delight of the team. A lesson is only as good as what youre willing to take from it. The Raptors are confident that Caboclo will continue to evolve with each roadblock he faces. As for the emotional outpour, they see it as positive quality rather than a sign of weakness. "I just think the kid has a big heart," Mermuys said. "He tried to put us on his shoulders, he was battling out there and his emotions came to the surface because of the situation we were in. I would be frustrated if I was him too, I was frustrated as the coach. We didnt get much fight, we were down 30 and thats a tough situation in front of a crowd for your third NBA game. Its tough." "I think Bruno, he has a good head and I think thats going to help him to grow up," Nogueira echoed. "I know he is young, but a great guy. I think that play will help him in the future. He is never giving up." MELBOURNE, Australia - Rafael Nadal dropped to his knees, clasping his hands tightly and appearing to be on the verge of tears as he celebrated a win at the Australian Open. Ryan Johansen Jersey .The 14-time Grand Slam champion has played some epic matches on Rod Laver Arena, including an almost six-hour final. This was a comeback second-round win over U.S. qualifier Tim Smyczek, a player ranked No. 112 who had never beaten a top 10 player. But the 6-2, 3-6, 6-7 (2), 6-3, 7-5 win Wednesday was a breakthrough of sorts for the third-seeded Nadal, who came into the first major of the season after playing just four tournaments since Wimbledon due to a right wrist injury and appendix surgery. At the end of the third game of the third set, Nadal called for assistance and was given medication for stomach pain. At times in the match he was doubled over in pain, seemingly on the verge of sickness or exhaustion.Yet he pulled through, earning the only break of the fifth set in the 11th game and then serving it out — after wasting three match points — in 4 hours, 12 minutes.Smyczek pushed Nadal to the limits, and played fair. When a spectator screamed out as Nadal tossed the ball for his serve at 30-0 in the last game, the American insisted Nadal replay the serve.Very tough night for me. Just first of all I want to congratulate Tim — hes a real gentleman, Nadal said. What he did in the last game is ... not a lot of people will do something like this at 6-5 in the fifth set.The highly-ranked seeds didnt get it entirely their way on day three.No. 2-ranked Maria Sharapova saved two match points before escaping with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 second-round win over fellow Russian Alexandra Panova, a qualifier ranked No. 150.Roger Federer dropped the first set and needed medical advice on his sore right pinkie finger — scolding a camera operator by saying Do you have to be that close? — before beating Simone Bolelli 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the third round.Sharapova made 51 unforced errors as she went for the lines, but kept swinging hard and saved some of her best ground strokes for when she needed them.Im just happy to get through — I was one point away twice today from being out of the tournament, said Sharapova, who started the season by winning the Brisbane International title. I was not playing my best tennis today. I think she played a pretty inspired match. She faced match point twice in the 10th game of the third set, stepping into a return winner on a weak second serve and later ripping a forehand winner deep into the corner against Panova, who entered the Australian Open without a single match win at five previous majors. The only Grand Slam champion remaining in her half of the draw, Sharapova next plays No. 31 Zarina Diyas. In a late match that started just before midnight because of the extended Nadal five-setter, French Open finalist and third-seeded Simona Halep beat Jarmila Gajdsova 6-2, 6-2.No. 7 Eugenie Bouchard, who reached the semifinals or better at three of the four majors in 2014, needed just 54 minutes to beat Kiki Bertens 6-0, 6-3. Also advancing were No. 10 Ekaterina Makarova, No. 21 Peng Shuai and No. 22 Karolina Pliskova.Federer was bothered by pain in his right hand, and took a medical timeout after the first set, before recovering to beat No. 48 Bolelli. It felt like a bee stung me. I was like This cant be possible — I never had this pain before. It was disturbing me, Federer, a four-time Australian Open champion, said. I knew that to tape it wasnt an option. Even after the match, he couldnt identify the cause of his pain.Three-time Australian Open finalist Andy Murray wasnt bothered by anything, particularly the parochial crowd, as he beat Melbournes Marinko Matosevic 6-1, 6-3, 6-2.Seventh-seeded Tomas Berdych advanced along with No. 10 Grigor Dimitrov, No. 14 Kevin Anderson and No. 24 Richard Gasquet.Seven of the mens seeds were defeated — among them, 2006 Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis beat No. 20 David Goffin and Bernard Tomic had a late 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5) win over No. 22 Philipp Kohlschreiber.Australian teenager Nick Kyrgios — who was a wild card ranked No. 144 when he beat Nadal in the fourth round at Wimbledon last year — beat No. 23 Ivo Karlovic in a four-set match featuring a combined 65 aces, 40 by the loser. P.K Subban Jersey . -- Pelicans coach Monty Williams does not expect guard Eric Gordon to play in any of New Orleans final five games this season. Dan Hamhuis Jersey . Mauer struck out to end the inning, with a runner on third base in the seventh on Wednesday and the Twins trailing 1-0. Everybody does this, of course, in a sport with a 30 per cent success rate at the plate long proven to be a benchmark of excellence. http://www.authenticpredatorspro.com/Ryan-hartman-predators-jersey/ . Coach Randy Carlyle didnt know the severity of Bozaks injury. Bozak left the bench and went down the tunnel early in the second period, returned to play a handful of shifts and then did play in the third. OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Gee-Gees were the only team in Canada to beat Carleton this season. The Ravens werent about to let it happen again. Carleton picked up its fourth straight national mens basketball title, and 10th in the last 12 years, with a 79-67 victory over its crosstown rival on Sunday. "Ottawa is a good team, you have to give them credit," said Carletons Tyson Hinz, who was named the tournaments most valuable player. "Thats by far the best team Ive played in my five years here." The Gee-Gees upset the Ravens last week in the Ontario University Association final. That just riled up the most successful CIS basketball team of the last 12 years. "It was pretty easy to get motivated after a loss," said Hinz, who led all scorers with 30 points. "Im so happy for the guys. Im happy we got the win." In addition to Hinz, the Ravens had solid contributions from Thomas and Philip Scrubb who had 20 and 16 points respectively. "The fact that they beat us was really motivating," said Philip Scrubb. "We just tried to focus on our team and what we had to do to win." Ravens head coach Dave Smart has been at the helm for all ten championships and has created one of Canadas greatest basketball legacies. "Every year its a different group of guys," said Smart. "These guys are special kids. Its been a long year. You guys see the wins and losses, but theres been a lot of ups and downs." Smart is known as a brilliant coach and many wonder how long before he chooses to expand his horizons, but the Ravens coach says hes happy where he is. "Even if someone offered me ridiculous money it would be a family decision," said Smart. "I know I would go into a situation coaching wise and program wise that would be worse. I have a great situation here and you have to look at it professionally, but you also have to look at your family. The point of me saying that was I aint leaving." The win was the Ravens fourth consecutive championship, but it didnt come easily. The Ottawa Gee-Gees came into the tournament as the No. 1 seed and advanced to the final for the first time in program history. The final score was hardly indicative of the battle that was fought all afternoon. The Ravens led by two, 16-14, after the first quarter, but the early half of the second belonged to the Gee-Gees as they pulled away with a six-point lead. The Ravens regained control on the back of Hinz, who had 13 points in the firrst half. Mattias Ekholm Jersey. The Ravens again led by two at the half, 37-35, but as so often has been the case this season the third quarter was where Carleton was at its best, jumping out to a 58-49 lead. "It was a tough third quarter for us," said Ottawa head coach James Derouin. "Carleton is sort of known for their quarter and coming out of halftime. We made a couple shots early in the quarter and I thought we had sort of sustained it, but the O-glass ended up killing us in the end. I think 29 second chance points and you just cant give a team this good that many second chance opportunities." The Gee-Gees made a valiant effort through the fourth, but the Ravens experience came through and they made the most of their opportunities at the free throw line. Carleton was 21-for-25 from the free throw line, while Ottawa was 8-for-11 which left the Gee-Gees coaching staff questioning a number of calls. Despite the loss, the Gee-Gees say they will look to grow from this experience and will use it as motivation for next season. "I just told them how proud I am of them," said Derouin. "They should be proud of the season they had. Our goal is to be back here next year. We were bronze last year, silver this year and hopefully that leads to a gold medal next year." Fourth-year forward Johnny Berhanemeskel led the Gee-Gees with 19 points. In the bronze medal game the University of Alberta Golden Bears defeated the No. 4 Victoria Vikes 61-53 Sunday morning. It was a quick turnaround for the Canada West rivals, who both lost in Saturday nights semifinals and also lost an hour of sleep thanks to daylight savings time. "I dont think either team was excited about playing with the time change in the bronze medal game," said Golden Bears head coach Barnaby Craddock, whose troops defeated Victoria 82-77 in the conference final last weekend. Alberta took control early on jumping out to a 25-4 lead after the first quarter. Victorias offence rebounded in the second quarter as they outscored Alberta 17-15, but it wasnt enough as Alberta led 40-21 at the half. The Vikes outscored the Golden Bears for the entire second half, but were unable to erase the advantage Alberta built up in the early going. Golden Bears star graduating forward Jordan Baker led his team with 16 points and eight assists in his final CIS game. Victorias fifth-year guard Terrell Evans finished his career leading the Vikes with a game-high 16 rebounds and 18 points. ATLANTA - The Atlanta Falcons have to recast their coaching search after Arizona defensive co-ordinator Todd Bowles called off a scheduled second interview with the team. Tyler Naquin Jersey .Bowles agent, Tony Agnone, told The Associated Press on Tuesday night Bowles cancelled the meeting with the Falcons that was set for Wednesday. The change in plans came as Bowles was finalizing an agreement to coach the New York Jets. Bowles met with the Jets on Tuesday. The Falcons are expected to have a second interview with Detroit defensive co-ordinator Teryl Austin later this week. The team is seeking to replace Mike Smith, who was fired following a 6-10 finish in 2014.The talks with Austin could determine if the Falcons wait for a second meeting with Seattle defensive co-ordinator Dan Quinn, who is unavailable this week as the Seahawks prepare for Sundays NFC championship game.If the Seahawks beat Green Bay on Sunday, Quinn may not be open for more talks with Atlanta until after the Feb. 1 Super Bowl.Bowles, 51, was Philadelphias defensive co-ordinator in 2012 before building one of the leagues top defences in Arizona. The Cardinals ranked fifth in the league, allowing 18.7 points per game.He previously was a defensive assistant with the Jets, Cleveland, Dallas and Miami. He was 2-1 as the Dolphins interim head coach in 2011.Austin, 49, was Baltimores secondary coach for three years before becoming Detroits defensive co-ordinator for the 2014 season. The Falcons search has focused on top defensive co-ordinators after former Jets coach Rex Ryan, also known for defence, was hired as Buffalos new coach. Its not a new strategy. McEwen, third B.J. Neufeld, second Matt Wozniak and lead Denni Neufeld won six of eight events in the first half of the season, including wins over Olympic champion Brad Jacobs in the finals of both The National in November and the Canada Cup in December. McEwens Fort Rouge Curling Club rink from Winnipeg is running away with the No. 1 ranking on the World Curling Tour with $114,000 in prize money so far. A team at a crossroads in February after losing its fourth provincial final in five years — and falling one win short again of a trip to the Canadian mens championship — decided to remain intact for an eighth season and reinvent itself. Very slowly we kind of gathered our thoughts and decided what we had together as a foursome was still very strong and important, but we had kind of lost our way as far as growing as teammates and as athletes, McEwen said Thursday at the Continental Cup. We made a commitment to find how to do that again. The four men began working with the Canadian Curling Associations sports psychologist Kyle Paquette to heal the trouble spots in their game. They stepped up their physical fitness with a personal trainer. Theyve been a solid team on the WCT since their formation in 2007 and were among the eight Canadian mens teams who qualified for the 2013 recent Olympic trials. ATHENS, Ga. Tyreke Evans Jersey . -- Michael Phelps surged to the wall and quickly searched for the scoreboard. He liked what he saw. Phelps turned in perhaps the most impressive performance so far in his comeback, posting the third-fastest time in the world this year while easily beating rival Ryan Lochte in the 100-meter butterfly at the Bulldog Grand Slam on Friday night. Despite some problems with his turn, Phelps had the packed house roaring when he touched in 51.67 seconds, considerably faster than the 52.11 he posted at the Santa Clara Grand Prix three weeks ago. Lochte was a distant second in 53.08. "I wanted to get under 52," Phelps said, breaking into a big smile. "I was sick and tired of seeing 52.1." He had no trouble finishing ahead of Lochte, though it really wasnt a fair fight. Phelps longtime foe also competed in the 200 freestyle, winning the "B" final less than an hour before he returned to the water to face a rested Phelps. More important for Lochte -- his left knee seemed to hold up well. This is his first meet for the laid-back Floridian since he reinjured the surgically repaired knee at the Mesa Grand Prix in April. It was initially hurt late last year when he tried to catch an exuberant fan and fell into a curb, requiring surgery. "I hope I lose," said Lochte, who plans to swim a grueling six events in Athens. "It will just make me more hungry." Phelps is set to swim three events at the weekend meet on the University of Georgia campus, a hastily arranged event that gave some of the top swimmers on the East Coast a chance to swim one more time competitively before the next months national championships in Irvine, California. The results from nationals, as well as the Pan Pacific Championships being held in Australia later in August, will determine the U.S. team for the 2015 world championships. Phelps seems to be right on course, at least in his signature fly, finishing just 0.46 off the time that won the gold at the 2012 London Olympics. The only faster times this year were Thomas Dals 51.44 in the Belgian Open and Viacheslav Prudnikovs 51.60 at the Russian national championships. "I am very pleased with being able to go 51," Phelps said. "But in the grand scheme of things, I think its just a small steppingstone to go where we hope to be." He is still struggling with the consistency of his stroke. When things are going well, Phelps needs 16 strokes to cover the first 50 metres, 18 for the return lap. When hes just a little off, he winds up gliding into the wall too much, either when hes making his flip turn or coming to the finish. "I was kind of bummed that I still cant hit a wall correctly," Phelps said. Added his coach, Bob Bowman, "He looked crazy coming off the wall." All in all, though, no complaints. Phelps, who retired after the last Olympics and stayed away from the pool for more than a year, didnt come back to tarnish his legacy, which includes 18 golds and 22 medals overall -- far more than any other Olympic athlete. "I always set high expectations for myself, no matter what Im doing," he said. "Bob and I have a plan of what I want to do. He knows what its going to take to get there." In other events, French Olympic star Yannick Agnel took the mens 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 47.27 seconds, followed by U.S. Olympians Conor Dywer (1:47.44) and Connor Jaeger (1:47.94). Lochte, swimming in that consolation final, actually posted the fourth-fastest time of the evening at 1:48.69, some 4 seconds faster than he went in the morning preliminaries while wearing a non-racing suit. Allison Schmitt, coming back strong after a disappointing post-Olympic year, won the womens 200 freestyle in 1:58.16. Winner of five medals in London, she struggled a bit with fame and didnt even qualify for the 2013 worlds. Shes back on track with the Rio Games just two years away. "I have more goals that I want to accomplish, which is why Im back," Schmitt said. "Im looking forward to this summer." In the 400 individual medley, Olympic gold medallist Tyler Clary blew away the field in the mens race. His time of 4:21.66 was nearly 4 1/2 seconds ahead of runner-up Kevin Litherland. Melanie Margalis finished first on the womens side. Micah Lawrence touched first in the womens 100 breaststroke, while the mens breaststroke was captured by Nicolas Fink. Seventeen-year-old Kathleen Baker took the womens 100 fly in 59.69, the only swimmer to break the minute barrier. Of course, Phelps drew most of the attention. His main foe was impressed by what he saw. "He swam a fantastic race," Lochte said. "That was really fast." General manager Mickey Loomis also says the club does not intend to re-sign free-agent linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who has been hampered by recurring knee injuries the past few seasons. "These were not easy decisions to make," Loomis said in written comments released by the club. "Since we acquired them, Jabari, Roman, Will and Jonathan have all been excellent players on the field for us. Each of them were integral parts in turning this program around and winning a Super Bowl. They were a great example to our players as team leaders in the locker room as well. "However, a new NFL year is about to begin and, with the start of free agency in March, these difficult moves allow us to position our team under the salary cap to move forward for 2014," Loomis added. The Saints have said they intend to retain free-agent Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham, either through a franchise tag or long-term extension, and both options will require financial flexibility. Wednesdays moves will save nearly $17 million in 2014. Saints coach Sean Payton said Smith, Harper, Vilma and Greer were "right there at the top" of all the great players he has coached or been around in his coaching career. "These are disciplined, smart, tough and team-oriented individuals," Payton said. "They all played an important role in helping this team and this city win its first Super Bowl and they have all enjoyed multiple playoff appearances and wins." Smith is a former first-round pick of the Saints in 2004 and had a team-leading 13 sacks during New Orleans Super Bowl season. However, he was widely expected to be released after this season, which he missed after tearing knee ligaments late in the preseason. He was scheduled to be paid $10.4 million in base salary alone this seasson. Omri Casspi Jersey. He has played in 139 games for the Saints, accumulating 67 1/2 career sacks. Harper was New Orleanss second round draft choice in 2006 and has since started 104 games. He went to Pro Bowls after the 2009 and 2010 season and his 17 career sacks are the most ever by a Saints defensive back. His base salary for 2014 was set at $2.35 million. As the moves became public, Harper posted a note on the social media website Twitter, thanking New Orleans fans for "the 8 years of .GreatMemories .WHODAT .SBXLIVCHAMPS." Greer, scheduled to earn $4 million in base salary next season, joined New Orleans as a free agent in 2009, immediately sliding into a starting role he held until a serious knee injury against San Francisco in mid-November, which ended his season. He intercepted nine passes in his five seasons in New Orleans, returning two for TDs. Vilma was acquired in a trade with the New York Jets in 2008. He led New Orleans in tackles during his first three season with the club and selected to Pro Bowls in 2009 and 2010. In 70 games with New Orleans, he was credited with 530 tackles, eight sacks, six interceptions, five forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. Last season, however, Vilma began the season on the physically unable to perform list because of his recurring knee problems. He returned for only one game before sitting out the rest of the season, and on Wednesday he seemed to be comfortable with the Saints decision not to engage him in further contract talks. On Twitter, he wrote: "Couple pro bowls and a superbowl ring later, I couldnt have written that chapter any better. .WhoDat" Like Smith, he was a defensive captain, but also like Smith, was implicated by the NFL as a ring-leader in a cash-for-hits bounty program that the league said the Saints ran from 2009-2011. Both players have always denied they ran a bounty pool as described by the NFL and successfully overturned suspensions. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, meanwhile, has maintained the leagues findings were accurate. Kane and Spurs have held initial discussions about a new deal for the England striker, Sky sources understand, although the two parties are understood to be some way apart with regard to wages.Tottenham captain Lloris is also believed to be keen to secure an improved deal with the club but Pochettino is in relaxed mood. Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris are happy at the club For us, our players Harry and Hugo are very important. They have a current contract, five years and three, and they are very happy to be here, and we are very happy too, he told a news conference ahead of the London derby clash with West Ham on Saturday.Thats the most important thing. There is some rumours that can affect our fans but they should not be worried about things like this because the players want to be in the long-term.I think they are talking maybe about improving and extending the contract and I think in the future it wont be a problem to do. I am very happy.Always you want to keep your best players and pay what they deserve but I think the club is doing a great job, and the players too. In the two NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 starts this season, the Brampton, Ont., driver has a perfect record with June wins at Delaware (Ont.) Speedway and the half-mile oval at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville, Ont. Add in the final few races of last season and the 27-year-old has three victories in his last four efforts. Despite the limited opportunities, Shepherd is not surprised at the success. "Im not surprised at all," he said. "We work hard on the car and behind the scenes a lot goes on for us to stay in step with the teams that race more often." Five total series wins in just 22 starts is more than staying in step. The results beg the what if question, but Shepherd doesnt spend a lot of time dwelling on that. "I can only do what I can do," he said. "We try to make the most of whats available and weve done pretty well with that recently." However, it doesnt mean that he doesnt get frustrated at times especially when watching television. "It doesnt matter if Im watching a Canadian Tire Series race or a (NASCAR) Sprint Cup Series race, it eats at me that I cant get out there more." Shepherd had some opportunities in the U.S. in his younger years, but the time wasnt right he laments in retrospect.  "I was just too young. Today, there are some young guys doing some great things, but that wasnt really the case when I was down there," he said. "Ive matured so much and learned so much as a driver. So, yes, it bugs me." The undefeated driver comes into the Hudco Electric Supply 300 presented by G-Oil at Barrie (Ont.) Speedway as the defending champion and for as physical as the racing is on the .333-mile tri-oval Shepherd likes the fact that early trouble doesnt necessarily spell doom. "Its tough racing there, thats for sure, but youre never out of it there," he said. "I think last year we were down a couple laps early on. As long as you stay with it and protect your equipment as best you can, then you always have a chance there." Having not raced since mid-June, the driver of the National Exhaust/Diamond Material Handling Dodge is ready to get back on the track. "I cant wait," he said. "The crowd at Barrie is always great and the racing is never dull. I wish the race was tomorrow." Race: Hudco Electric Supply 300 presented by G-OilPlace: Barrie (Ont.) ESPN raised some eyebrows recently when, attempting to find the best modern day side of the Champions League era, they ranked Manchester Uniteds 1999 side higher than the 2008 winners. Rene Robert Jersey . United fans have little to do during the week at the moment, being out of Europe for the first time in 25 years, so this topic certainly got a lot of their attention as they debated the merits of both sides. Why not, right? It was certainly more fun than picking the bones out of a 4-0 loss to Milton Keynes Dons in the League Cup or a recent 0-0 draw at Burnley. United fans have been doing a lot of looking back recently. They regularly cast their minds back to the Sir Alex Ferguson era and wonder if any of the current issues existed then. They are regularly reminded of the short David Moyes era where they became forlorn, former giants of the domestic game, forcing the clubs upper management to shop on a different street in the transfer market and finally bring back some expensive class home that can make a difference. Yet this season was supposed to be a new dawn. A new era away from Fergies 2012-13 and the Moyes nightmare of 2013-14 where they can draw a line under the past and move forward. If any comparing of recent eras were to take place, United fans simply hoped it would be in comical fashion referring to how poor they were last year compared to this. That ambitious leap looks far too premature at the moment after their most recent defeat, a 5-3 loss to Leicester City, in which they were massacred in the second half by a club who was playing in the Championship last season. After taking one step forward in their 4-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, they took another two steps back in humiliating fashion at the King Power Stadium on Sunday losing the last 30 minutes of the match 4-0, after being ahead 3-1 after an hour. Captain Wayne Rooney ended the game with a foul-mouthed rant in the face of the officials, believing referee Mark Clattenburg had gotten two major decisions wrong that led to two of Leicesters goals. There was no question that Jamie Vardy fouled both Rafael and Tyler Blackett on the buildup to the penalties being awarded but United will be naive and completely missing the point if they lay this loss at the hands of the officials. The simple truth is United were poor enough to allow the officials to be an excuse. Louis Van Gaal is known to be a coach of great details. He carries around a giant folder to each match and this week he gave us a glimpse of what kind of information was in it. “I have analysed them (Leicester) three times,” he said. “I prepare all my matches very thoroughly. I know all about the games they have played already and the game they lost to a minor team [Shrewsbury] in the Capital One Cup. I know everything about the team, about individuals, substitutes, what the atmosphere will be like in the stadium, how they take free-kicks, everything. My staff check all that out and then we send it to the players. Ryan Giggs gives them a presentation, then we simulate our opponents in training.” Whoever simulated Leicester in training this week got it wrong. Very wrong. They failed to show that two men would press Daley Blind whenever he received the ball, ensuring he made less than half of the passes he attempted last week against QPR. They failed to simulate Leonardo Ulloas instincts in the box shown when he scored a crucial header, not tracked, at 2-0. They failed to simulate the tempo that Leicester played with, even when they were down 3-1, something Van Gaal will never have experienced from a promoted team when coaching the likes of Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Above all, they certainly failed to test an embarrassingly open team that showed no backbone, belief and leadership when faced with adversity. In parts United were breathtaking, looking nothing like their former selves, when Radamel Falcaos brilliant cross found the head of Robin van Persie and when Angel Di Maria dribbled his way into the box and lobbed Kasper Schmeichel soon after, but in many ways it is those moments that makes Uniteds second half performance even more alarming. The Premier League has a video library of all of their past matches and inside that library is a list of what they call ‘EPL Classics. These are offered at a price to their broadcast partners around the world. United feature heavily in many of these games and most of them they win. Even when they didnt always play well such classics showed Uniteds incredible resolve and recovery abilities to come from behind and win matches, like the famous 5-3 victory at Tottenham in September, 2001. Sir Alex Ferguson called that one of his most memorable victories and talked in his book about the belief the team had down 3-0 at half-time. He wrote: “As they traipsed into the dressing room, three goals down, the players were braced for a rollicking. Instead I sat down and said: ‘Right, Ill tell you what were going to do. Were going to score the first goal in this second half and see where it takes us. We get at them right away, and we get the first goal. ” It was a 5-3 that said everything about that United team. The moment they scored the first goal the entire ground wondered about a comeback. Sundays 5-3 loss to Leicester said everything about this current United team. Up 3-1 they should have seen it out but they left too many attacking players on the field and crumbled, losing a Premier League match, after being up two goals, for the first time ever. At 3-3, with 25 minutes left for them to still go on and win, they walked back to the centre-circle with their heads down. The only one whose head was up was captain Rooney who screamed at his United teammates. It is not all Rooneys fault but it was hardly the image of leadership and it speaks volumes that there is no better option than the Englishman to wear the captains armband. A team that once had incredible leadership and characters relied upon individual brilliance to insert their dominance over Leicester but when the going got tough they disappeared. Some blame falls at the feet of Van Gaal, of course, and it is clear his folder needs more chapters, and the profile of a world class centre-back wouldnt hurt either, but the capitulation falls on the players. There is no hiding behind an inadequate manager anymore. The Premier League has a new game to place inside their classic library. It is up to the current crop of United players to now ensure its a match that doesnt define this era. Josh Brown kicked a 37-yard field goal with 38 seconds to play after Belichick went for a first down in his territory late, and the Giants capped their first undefeated preseason since 2006 with a 16-13 victory on Thursday night. The Patriots coach went for it on fourth-and-1 from his 39 with less than three minutes to play and the score tied. Patriots rookie Jimmy Garoppolo threw his pass between two receivers and the Giants (5-0) ran off six plays to set up Browns third field goal. "I knew it was going to happen," Giants punter and holder Steve Weatherford said of Belichicks decision. "We would have done the same thing. We saw what we needed to see and it was time to get it over with. He (Belichick) was in the same position. Everyone was healthy for the most part. As much as you want to win, its better to get out healthy." The Patriots (2-2) started just two regulars and trotted on Tom Brady to hold on the first of Stephen Gostkowskis two field goals. Other than that, he stayed on the bench for the defending AFC East champions. New England opens the season a week from Sunday at Miami. There were many in New England who felt that Garoppolo was getting a chance to win the backup job from Ryan Mallett with this start. If he did, Belichick wasnt talking about it. "I think it was a good experience for him," Belichick said. "It will help his development. Hes obviously got a long way to go. He learned a lot from the week." The Giants, who have missed the playoffs the past two seasons, play at Detroit in a Monday night game Sept. 8. The final preseason game was left in the hands of backups for the most part. New England used regulars guard Josh Kline and safety Duron Harmon, while Giants starters played two series. All the scoring came with reserves on the field and the Patriots were more impressive, with Garoppolo leading scoring driives of 82, 61 and 59 yards. Custom Colorado Avalanche Jerseys. He capped the first one with a 33-yard pass to Aaron Dobson early in the second quarter for a 7-3 lead. Gostkowski had field goals of 37 and 21, with the later giving New England a 13-10 lead late in the third quarter. Brown, who beat out first-year kicker Brandon McManus earlier this week, tied the game in the fourth quarter with a 45-yarder. He had put New York ahead 3-0 following an interception by Zack Bowman in the second quarter. Peyton Hillis, who missed three weeks with an ankle injury, scored on a 1-yard run to put the Giants ahead 10-7 late in the half. Bowman, who played with the Bears last season, felt it was important for the Giants to win in the preseason. "It means a lot, its the attitude we want to take on the field into the season," Bowman said. "You dont want to be 0-4 going into the season. But at the same time, it helps us a lot coming off last year (7-9). We want to keep this going. We want to keep this momentum going." The Giants new West Coast offence came into the fifth preseason game struggling, and it didnt show much in generating one first down against Patriots scrubs. Their final play summed up the preseason, despite the unbeaten record. On a third-and-2 from the Giants 28, Eli Manning hit tight end Kellen Davis for no gain. A second-round pick out of Eastern Illinois, Garoppolo showed poise in his first start, completing 22 of 42 for 284 yards, a touchdown and an interception. "It could have went better," Garoppolo said. "There are some things we messed up, fixable things." Manning (1 of 4 for 0 yards), Ryan Nassib (6 of 14 for 107 yards) and Curtis Painter (3 of 5 for 32 yards) could not match those statistics combined. "Our goal was to do some things, see what we needed to improve on and to get out healthy, and I think we did that," said Manning, who finished the preseason 20 of 41 for 188 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. ___ AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Stitched College Jerseys Cheap UCLA Jerseys NCAA Louisville Cardinals Jerseys North Carolina Jerseys Stitched Kentucky Wildcats Jerseys Stitched Alabama Crimson Tide Jerseys Cheap Basketball Wisconsin Badgers Jerseys Authentic NCAA Jerseys Store Wholesale Basketball NCAA Jerseys Cheap Duke Gear Stitched Alabama Jerseys Stitched Georgia Jerseys Cheap Clemson Jerseys Authentic Authentic Texas Jerseys Wholesale USC Jerseys Stitched Oklahoma Jerseys Stitched Ohio State Jerseys Cheap Notre Dame Gear UCLA Jerseys From China Cheap Louisville Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap North Carolina Jerseys Authentic Cheap Kentucky Jerseys Authentic Wisconsin Jerseys From China Cheap Michigan Gear Cheap Florida Gear Wholesale Arizona State Jerseys Cheap LSU Gear Cheap Auburn Gear Cheap California Jerseys Free Shipping Cheap Miami Jerseys Authentic Cheap Michigan State Gear Cheap Tennessee Jerseys Authentic Texas A&M Jerseys From China Authentic Wake Forest Jerseys West Virginia Jerseys From China ' ' '

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Custom Minnesota Twins Jerseys . -- No Chris Paul? No problem for the surging Los Angeles Clippers, who simply turned to their bench for help. Playing without their mercurial point guard for the first time this season, the Clippers got a big lift from Jamal Crawford and matched their best start since moving to Los Angeles. Crawford had a season-high 31 points off the bench, including a pair of free throws with 21 seconds left, and Los Angeles beat the Sacramento Kings 104-98 in overtime on Friday night. "Its weird because Im 33 but I feel like Im getting better," said Crawford, who added 11 assists and seven rebounds. "Im learning more, I have a great coach and great teammates. Ill continue to get better." The Clippers needed every bit of Crawfords big night after blowing a five-point lead late in the fourth quarter, then getting off to a sluggish start in overtime. Sacramento scored the first four points in the extra period on a pair of layups by Patrick Patterson. Blake Griffin got the Clippers on the board with a 19-foot jumper, then later scored on a dunk. DeAndre Jordan added a bucket off an offensive rebound, and Crawford followed with an 18-foot, step-back jumper with 1:28 remaining before sealing the win from the free throw line. "With Chris Paul out, I knew it was going to be (Crawfords) green light to take over the game," Sacramento coach Mike Malone said. "Hes a beast. Hes done that his whole career." Griffin added 21 points and 12 assists, while Jordan blocked a career-high nine shots for the Clippers. Los Angeles, which has won nine of its last 11, matched the 12-5 start set by the 2005-06 team. The win also moved Clippers coach Doc Rivers within one victory of 600 for his career. "Physically, I thought we were phenomenal most of the night," Rivers said. Sacramento, which missed two 3-pointers over the final 70 seconds, lost its third straight this season to its Western Conference foes. The Kings didnt go quietly. Trailing 94-89 with just under two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Sacramento scored the final two baskets in regulation to force the extra period. Greivis Vasquez made an off-balance 3-pointer that banked in off the backboard, and Ben McLemore added two free throws with 17 seconds left. Crawford had a chance to win it for Los Angeles but missed a long jumper from the top of the 3-point line at the buzzer. He more than made up for it in overtime. "I dont know what hes got against us," Vasquez said. "Every time he comes here he just goes off." The teams, who played six days earlier in Southern California, were much more restrained in their third matchup of the season. That might have been because Paul, who has been at the centre of much of the heat between them, did not play. Paul was held out for the first time this season after straining a hamstring against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. "We have a bunch of games coming up so its smarter to rest him," Rivers said before the game. "I think Chris knows its the right thing to do. Right now well just do things, guards, by committee." Darren Collison, who started in place of Paul, had seven points in the first half but didnt record his first assist until midway through the third quarter. Crawford came off the bench with 13 points and five assists in the first 24 minutes to help Los Angeles get going after a sluggish start. The Clippers, who edged the Kings 103-102 at home on Nov. 23, shot just 38 per cent in the first quarter and trailed by as much as eight before making their run. Crawford had nine points in the second quarter, including a driving layup with 5.3 seconds left that gave Los Angeles a 50-45 lead at the break. The Clippers maintained their slim lead for most of the third quarter. Griffin scored eight points in the period, while Crawford made his second 3-pointer with 44 seconds left to keep Los Angeles in front 73-72. McLemore and John Salmons finished with 14 points apiece. Notes: Griffin went over 5,000 career points. ... Derrick Williams had 12 points and a pair of thunderous dunks in his Sacramento debut. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Paul Arriola Jersey . - When the Jacksonville Jaguars introduced starter Toby Gerhart before last weeks game, Gerhart and his fellow running backs ran onto the field together. They called it a sign of unity. It also served as a strong visual depicting what the Jaguars backfield has become. Its running back by committee in Jacksonville, with Gerhart, Denard Robinson, Jordan Todman and rookie Storm Johnson all sharing carries. The Jaguars (0-5) rank 31st in the league in rushing, averaging 67 yards a game, so the decision to get more guys involved was an obvious one.Johnson could be the wild card in the rotation. A seventh-round draft pick from UCF, Johnson was inactive the first three weeks because of ankle injury, and although he was active Week 4 at San Diego, he didnt play. He made his NFL debut Sunday against Pittsburgh, running four times for a team-high 27 yards. It wasnt a dazzling performance, but Johnsons 20-yard run in the third quarter matched the teams longest of the season (quarterback Blake Bortles) and was the longest for any Jaguars running back. Its not surprising to me, coach Gus Bradley said. I mentioned two weeks ago he had a good practice. Last week he had a good week, and its that trust and hes building trust. For him to go in there and perform and really capture his opportunity was pretty cool to see. ... The runs he had were very impressive.Johnson re-injured his ankle late in the game, but should be fine for Sundays game at Tennessee (1-4).Still in rebuilding mode, the Jaguars might start Johnson at some point. Bradley and general manager Dave Caldwell have gone with several youngsters this season, especially on offence.Bortles, centre Luke Bowanko, right guard Brandon Linder, tight end Nic Jacobs and receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns all started in the 17-9 loss to the Steelers. Rookie linebacker Telvin Smith also got the nod, giving the team seven rookies in the starting lineup.By comparison, fellow AFC South teams Houston, Indianapolis and Tennessee started one each.Jacksonville also has five second-year players in its starting lineup, making the Jaguars one of the leagues youngest and least experienced teams.Caldwell and Bradley believe that if the competition is close between two players, its usually best to go with the younger guy, especially if they think hes got more upside.Well, its a challenge that weve said before that we accept, Bradley said. Somewhere down the line these guys cant be rookies anymore, I believe. I think somewhere theyve played enough games where they say, All right, lets go. I dont want to talk about that anymore. We understand that.Gerhart and the other running backs understand the situation.Although Jacksonville gave Gerhart a three-year, $10 million contract in free agency to be the No. 1 back, the former Minnesota Vikings backup knew he would be sharing the load this season.Injuries have made it even more necessary.Gerhart sprained his right ankle in the season opener against Philadelphia when he was horse-collar tackled from behind. He has been hobbled since. And it seemingly got worse Sunday when he sprained his right foot. He returned to the game, but finished with a season-low four carries for 9 yards, and played just 10 snaps.I know that he felt really good going into the game and then early he had an issue, Bradley said.Regardless of what happens to the starting spot, the running backs insist it wont matter because theyre so close. That was evident when they took the field together Sunday. Were just a tight group and we just said, Why not? Gerhart said.Todman said it carried over from last year, when former Jaguars standout Maurice Jones-Drew led the group and got everyone hanging out together. They even nicknamed themselves the wolf pack. They didnt get introduced as a group in 2013, but decided to do it Sunday a€” fitting given the state of the position. It was a group decision, Todman said. Why not? Lets do it. It was good to have everybody out there active and able to play.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Justin Morrow Jersey . ST. Cam Robinson Jersey . LOUIS - Michael Wacha doesnt mind a little bad weather. Wacha had to wait out yet another lengthy rain delay, Matt Carpenter drove in three runs and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs 6-4 Sunday. St. Louis took two of three from the Cubs and has won four of six. Chicago has lost three of four. Rain has figured in all three of Wachas starts this season. He actually seemed to embrace a third-inning downpour that halted play against the Cubs for 46 minutes. "Im used to it," he said. "You just have to accept it and youve got to stay focused. I tried to stay loose and just keep my mind in what I needed to do." Wachas first start of the season was delayed before first pitch by 2 hours, 40 minutes. He endured a short 12-minute delay at the outset of his second outing. Wacha (2-0) allowed three runs and five hits in 6 1-3 innings Sunday. He gave up a two-run homer to Anthony Rizzo on the 16th pitch of the game, but yielded just one run on three hits the rest of the way. He struck out eight and walked one. "At the start, I was a little erratic, but I was able to settle down a little bit," he said. "I got some quick innings and some quick outs." St. Louis manager Mike Matheny says Wacha has the mental makeup to handle lengthy or short delays. "Hes strong and he knows what to do out there," Matheny said. "He keeps a good focus. I felt like his curveball was a lot better after the delay." Carpenter hit a two-run single in the second inning and added a sacrifice fly in the fourth that put St. Louis ahead to stay at 4-3. He is tied with Yadier Molina for the team lead with nine RBI. "It felt good to get the job done," Carpenter said. "When you get up in those situations, you just try and put a good at-bat up there and I thought I did that." Trevor Rosenthal gave up a run in the ninth, but retired Luis Valbuena and Emilio Bonifacio with the tying runs on base to pick up his fourth save in four opportunities. Chicago starter Edwin Jackson (0-1) allowed four runs and eight hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked three in a grueling 114-pitch effort. "I didnt feel too bad," Jackson said. "I threw a lot of pitches. I was behind in a lot of counts. They were aggressive, thats a good hitting team." Jhonny Peralta highlighted a two-run eighth with an RBI double that put St. Louis up 6-3. Rizzo got his club started with his second homer of the season. "I just got extended," Rizzo said. "I was lucky enough to get the barrel on it." After Carpenter singled in two runs in the second, he stole second and scored on Kolten Wongs single for a 3-2 lead. The Cubs tied the game in the fourth on a run-scoring single by Welington Castillo. Carpenter then gave St. Louis the lead for good with a sacrifice fly to left that brought in Peter Bourjos, who began the fourth inning with a triple. "We did the things we had to at the right times to win," Carpenter said. Trailing 4-3, Mike Olt led off the Cubs seventh with a double off Wacha. Castillo struck out and reliever Kevin Siegrist retired Darwin Barney and Bonifacio to end the threat. Siegrist retired all five batters he faced. Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling may go down without a fight after all. Justin Morneau Jersey . Earlier this week, the NBA initiated a formal charge to end Sterlings ownership of the team he bought in 1981 and reports Friday indicate that the embattled owner will allow his wife, Shelly, to negotiate a sale. ESPN said Shelly Sterling and her lawyers have already begun talks with the NBA about a sale, and celebrity gossip website TMZ.com cited sources as saying Donald Sterling made the decision because he believes the NBA will eventually force him to sell. NBA spokesman, Mike Bass, made the following statement in regards to the Sterling news. "We continue to follow the process set forth in the NBA Constitution regarding termination of the current ownership interests in the Los Angeles Clippers and are proceeding toward a hearing on this matter on June 3." NBA commissioner Adam Silver last month banned Donald Sterling for life and fined him $2.5 million over racist comments the Clippers owner made that were recorded by his girlfriend and posted online. Silver also said April 29 he would urge the other owners to force Sterling to sell the team. The NBA says its constitution provides grounds to terminate Sterlings ownership. On the heels of the NBAs decision earlier this week, Sterling has until May 27 to respond to the charge. Under the NBA constitution, he also has the right to make a presentation at a special meeting of the Board of Governors planned for June 3. Sterling had reportedly threatened to sue the NBA and said he would not pay the fine, claiming through a lawyer that he has done nothing wrong and his punishment is unwarranted. Audio of Sterling urging his girlfriend not to bring African-Americans to Clippers games and disparaging Magic Johnson was first published by TMZ. Deadspin.com later posted a longer clip. The comments sent shockwaves through the league, leading to a protest from Clippers players, who dropped warmup jackets at midcourt before a playoff game and practiced with their shirts turned inside-out to hide the teams logo. Sterling told CNNs Anderson Cooper he "is not a racist" and "made a terrible, terrible mistake," but also took further shots at Johnson, saying the Hall-of- Fame former Lakers star doesnt do enough for the black community. The Clippers lost to Oklahoma City in the Western Conference semifinals. Max Kepler Jersey . It was a loss. But it was also a learning experience. Deron Williams and Joe Johnson had 24 points each to lift Brooklyn to a 94-87 win over the Raptors, making their first playoff appearance since 08. WINNIPEG -- Dustin Byfugliens versatility is proving to be highly valuable to the Winnipeg Jets. Willian Jersey . Byfuglien, who was moved to forward from defence earlier this month but sometimes plays both positions in a game, scored the winner in a 5-4 overtime victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The six-foot-five Byfuglien took a pass from captain Andrew Ladd and fired a wrist shot over goalie Jonathan Berniers glove 2:44 into the extra frame for his 12th goal of the season. "They (the Leafs) backed off a little bit," Byfuglien said. "They didnt know we were trying to regroup type of thing. "It was tough for them, but I just got the puck on the net." Rookie Mark Scheifele, defenceman Zach Bogosian and both Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little on the power play scored for the Jets, who outshot the Leafs 31-27 after regulation play and 32-28 following overtime. Little also had an assist and Ladd added two assists for Winnipeg (24-24-5). Toronto (27-21-6) got a power-play goal from defenceman Dion Phaneuf, centre Troy Bodie scored his second of the season and defenceman Tim Gleason marked his first goal of the year. Jets coach Paul Maurice said Byfugliens versatility is a big plus for the team. "Its a huge, huge luxury," Maurice said. "It makes us run our bench. It makes my pairs right coming off the bench up front. You get all your best offensive players on the ice that way." Byfuglien was moved to forward by former coach Claude Noel in his last game before he was fired and replaced by Maurice on Jan. 12. The Jets are 5-1 under Maurice, but they let a 4-1 second-period lead get away that seemed a little reminiscent of the past. Phil Kessel tied the game 4-4 with 1:33 left in the third period on a sharp-angled shot that beat goalie Ondrej Pavelec. "I know the scoring progression is going to say we blew a 4-1 lead, but I didnt feel we didnt generate anything and that they were all over us," Maurice said. "They had some flurries, they have some real good players. And we had some great chances, too." Little said his team didnt lose its confidence as the scoreboard shifted. "Its never fun when you start to let a team back in the game," Little said. "When they scored that fourth (goal), I tell you we handled it real well. We stayed pretty level-headed. Even if it took longer than 60 minutes, I thought we felt we were going to get the job done." Pavelec stop 24 of the 28 shots he faced. James Reimer started for the Leafs, but let in four goals on 18 shots and was replaced by Bernier midway through the second period. Bernier stopped 13 of the 14 shots he faced. "We felt that it would be the decision to let a guy play in his hometown," Toronto coach Randy Carlyle said of the decision to go with Reimer, who was born in Morweena, Man. The Jets went up 2-0 early in the first period after scoring on their first and fourth shots of the game. Toronto coughed up the puck in its own end and Jets forward Evander Kane got it and sent a pass to Scheifele. Reimer got a piece of Scheifeles shot, but not enough as the Jets went up 1-0 at 3:10 on the rookies 10th goal of the season. Winnipeg made good on its first power play of the game, courtesy of a hooking penalty on Leafs defenceman Morgan Reilly. Pavelec got things started with a pass out to defenceman Jacob Trouba, who then sent the puck to Wheeler just outside Torontos blue-line. Wheeler raced in alone on Reimer and put a shot through his pads at 6:34. "Obviously, the first two goals were goals that I thought that were scored in the middle of the net and those are tough ones," Carlyle said. "I contemplated whether to do something at that point, but I felt get him through the period and give him an opportunity to fight and battle himself back. "And then he did that because he came out in the second period and made some big stops. He made a stop on a breakaway. He battled hard for our hockey club." A five-goal second period saw each team scoring twice in a span of 3:01. The Leafs used a power play for Phaneufs fifth goal of the season, a long one-timer straight at the net through traffic at 6:13 while Jets defenceman Keaton Ellerby was in the box for boarding. Littles 17th goal of the season came just over a minute later as he redirected a shot by Toby Enstrom to make it 3-1. Bogosians shot 37 seconds later beat a partially screened Reimer and sent the goalie to the bench in favour of Bernier, who entered his 100th career game with his team down 4-1. "Well, it was more mercy because one was a deflection and the another one was posted in," Carlyle said. "We just needed a little bit of a change." Toronto made it 4-2 on Bodies goal 61 seconds later at 9:14 and then made it a one-goal deficit at 16:44 when Gleasons shot hit Trouba and went through Pavelecs pads. James van Riemsdyk assisted on Kessels goal and saw a silver lining in falling just short of a successful comeback. "We got down and were able to battle back and showed character," van Riemsdyk said. "But again, well take the point." Cassio Brazil Jersey . The injury will keep the Finnish forward out of the Olympics. There will be no attempt to affirm, or deny, the existence of the clutch hitter in baseball and whether David Ortiz fits the bill. Instead, there will be the celebration of a moment, or a series of moments, in an epic game of what has the makings of being an epic American League Championship Series. The experience, sitting in the right field auxiliary press box, began before the first pitch. Flat-screen televisions are fastened to the top of the green beams supporting the second deck. Early arrivers sat, necks craned, glued to the last-minute, game-winning touchdown drive Tom Brady was completing down the road in Foxborough. When receiver Kenbrell Thompkins caught the pass to secure a 30-27 win over the New Orleans Saints, a raucous cheer went up, surely a strange scene for the handful of Detroit Tigers who remained on the field at the end of batting practice. Less than an hour later, Game 2 began. Mathematically speaking it wasnt a must-win game for the Red Sox, but Justin Verlander is on deck for the Tigers in Tuesdays Game 3 and to be down a couple and heading to Detroit, well, you get the picture. Having been one-hit by Anibal Sanchez and four Tigers relievers in a 1-0 loss to open the series the night before, Bostons hitters picked up where they left off. Detroits Max Scherzer was every bit the Cy Young Award winner hes likely to be. He struck out two Red Sox in each of the first three innings, racked up another strikeout and a double play in the fourth and another strikeout in the fifth. At that point, Scherzer had yet to allow a hit. In the meantime, the Tigers had scored a run in the second on a Victor Martinez double and Alex Avila RBI single. Then came the sixth, when Detroit batted around, scoring four runs on five hits and chasing Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz from the game. Detroit led 5-0. Scherzer was more than halfway toward a no-hitter. It was happening again, just like the night before, except the deficit was much larger. With no ghosts of Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio and Mantle to draw upon, Boston would later find out that the living, in this case the lone holdover from both the 2004 and 2007 championship teams, would create a special moment. The Red Sox got on the board with one out in the sixth when Shane Victorino singled, ending Scherzers no-hit bid, before Dustin Pedroia doubled him home. In thhe blink of an eye Boston had scored a run and pieced together two hits in a game – new ground for the home side in this young series. Fagner Brazil Jersey. And its worth mentioning, when Victorino singled the crowd roared. But they werent mocking the dry Red Sox offence; they were trying to spurn them on. As Pedroias at-bat played out, a hearty “Lets Go Red Sox” chant filled Fenway. Give the fans an inch and theyll attempt to take the mile, or at the very least remind the local heroes who has their backs. Scherzer worked a clean seventh, the score was still 5-1, and his night was finished. Cue the eighth, which proved to be the return of the Tigers not-so-vaunted bullpen. The four-headed monster of Joaquin Benoit, Drew Smyly, Jose Veras and Al Alburquerque did a fine job in Game 1. Sunday evening, not so much. Veras started the inning getting Stephen Drew on a ground out. But then, Will Middlebrooks doubled. Tigers manager Jim Leyland went into matchup mode, calling for the left-handed Smyly to deal with the left-handed Jacoby Ellsbury. Except, in what was the pivotal at-bat in the inning before the heroics, Smyly walked Bostons centrefielder. Alburquerque was summoned and struck out Shane Victorino but then allowed a single to Pedroia, loading the bases with two outs for Ortiz. Leyland had left-hander Phil Coke, who hadnt pitched in a big league game since September 18, and his closer, the right-hander Benoit, warming in the bullpen. Leyland elected Benoit. Benoits first pitch to Ortiz, a changeup, was sent on a line over the right-centerfield wall and into the Red Soxs bullpen. Ortizs good friend, Tigers right fielder Torii Hunter, launched himself over the short fence in an attempt to make the catch, but to no avail. The game was tied 5-5. The crowd erupted. Many more of them, and much louder, than had bellowed during batting practice when Brady launched his game-winning touchdown pass. Ortiz had authored yet another moment in his sparkling Red Sox career, cemented an inning later when Jarrod Saltalamacchias walk off single scored Jonny Gomes with the winning run. Again, pandemonium. After everything, boil it down and the series is tied at a game apiece with the venue shifting to Comerica Park on Tuesday afternoon. Much has been made of this first-ever playoff matchup between two of baseballs iconic franchises, these Red Sox and Tigers. Buckle up, its just getting started. Looks like the first times a charm. Since the arrival of Paul Maurice, Bogosian is the leader in average ice time at over 25 minutes per game. He also led the Jets in shots on goal with six, tying a season high. The Jets also lost Mark Scheifele with a lower body injury, after he went knee on knee with Calvin de Haan.  De Haan received a two minute tripping penalty on the play. Scheifele will be further evaluated Wednesday. Chris Thorburn was also shaken up after a first period fight with Matt Martin. The Islanders traded Andrew MacDonald earlier in the day, and scratched Thomas Vanek, the expectation being that Vanek will be traded as well. For Paul Maurice it was his 1100th regular season game as an NHL coach, and he had this to say about the game. "We came out very tight. I dont have the answers for you as to why. We did not take that team lightly. Youve got almost a group of guys that at times you wonder if they care too much, they really do. You could feel it tighten as they went. A lot of strange plays with the puck out there that I dont have an answer for how it happened. The power play was tight and things that are easy to do, werent. Wed relax, the chatter would pick up and wed play better. Handling all this and the injury is the challenge now.  Our brains were going a hundred miles per hour and our feet were not. Terry OReilly Jersey .The 33-year-old former Olympique de Marseille player gives the MLS club a formidable partnership with American international Michael Bradley in centre midfield.Cheyrou, who parted ways with Marseille in October, brings a blue-chip resume to Major League Soccer. He helped Marseille win the French league title in 2009-10 as well as three consecutive French League Cup wins in 2010, 2011, and 2012.At Marseille, the six-foot 175-pounder played in 37 Champions League games. In all, he has appeared in more than 400 French league games.Benoits vision and his ability to distribute the ball are two very distinct qualities that have made him such a successful player throughout his career both domestically in France and in European competition, Toronto FC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a statement. He has a wealth of experience and success and is another important piece that complements the ones we currently have in place. We are very excited to bring him to Toronto FC.Toronto head coach Greg Vanney, while at SC Bastia, played against Cheyrou in France.Cheyrou adds to an impressive Toronto FC spine, marshalling the midfield with Bradley while newly acquired Polish international centre back Damien Perquis partners Scottish veteran Steven Caldwell at the heart of the defence. New designated players Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco, who is expected in July, will lead the attack. All but Bradley and Caldwell are new additions this season.Toronto has been clearing salary cap space and loading up on allocation money to find the resources for Perquis and Cheyrou, as well as a new deal for striker Luke Moore. In recent days, Toronto sent midfielder Kyle Bekker to FC Dallas and winger/forward Dominic Oduro to Montreal — both for allocation money. Combined the two made almost US$330,000 last year. The MLS salary cap was $3.1 million last season with each designated players over the age of 23 counting just $387,500 against the cap. Torontos actual number will be closer to $20 million this year and thats with a pro-rated 2015 figure for Giovinco.Toronto still has work to do to meet roster compliance, with four designated players — one over the limit. Brazilian striker Gilberto, currently at home awaiting his fate, is the odd man out. Toronto, practising under the bubble this week at its north Toronto training centre, heads to Orlando on Sunday to continue training camp. Cheyrou is expected to join the team there.Named to the Ligue 1 team of the year in 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10, Cheyrou made 304 combined appearances for Marseille in Ligue 1, Champions League, UEFA Cup/Europa League, French Cup and League Cup.His Marseille contract was terminated by a tribunal after an apparent fallout with coach Marcelo Bielsa.Im very excited to sign for Toronto FC, Cheyrou said in a statement.
